On the left is the drain from the upstairs bathroom and the start of the wall of the bathroom (by the broom handle), on the right is the insulated version with the new office window and the dividing wall with the bathroom is up, also the view of the new bathroom window is better if a bit orange
This is the east wall with little wall made up on the bench because of the lowered floor. All the tar paper is up. On the right is the same wall all framed, insulated and with vapour barrier in place.
Here are four of the cabinets during construction. The finished result of the two tall cabinets is in the picture on the right. They are cherry veneer.
Ok, so it's now drywall time, Mark has finished the wiring on the north wall of the office. On the right is same wall with the sound insulation in place and below is the wall dry walled.
The window box is now in place on the south wall. And here is a look at the new office door (minus the plywood).
Here is a picture of the door during assembly
Here is the new door for my office, in place and all the trim around it, still needs painting and the door handle. Picture on the right are my bookcases
Here is the desk temporarily in place, as well as the desk with the edge banding being put around it, 6 layers of 1/8" steamed cherry, the desk is black melamine on particle board (couldn't get plywood). You can see the finished window boxes with trim for both the east and south windows. Oh and off to the side, the box for the base of the stairs has it's band of plywood around it.
The ceiling is half installed in the picture above, you can see the nicely painted walls and the lights are in, at right is the new floor. The little square just below the red drill is a floor vent. There are 5 of them around the floor to keep the area underneath dry. There is also an access panel for the floor drain in the top left corner of the photo.
The one on the left is my monitor cabinet, it will be sitting on the desk just above where it is sitting on the floor. The one on the right is the cabinet that attaches to the bookcases. They are just awaiting a couple more coats of polyurethane before installation.
Here is the office closet with the wire shelf installed, we are already using it to store stuff. At right are the bookcases and the corner cabinet with a test install of part of the desk. The cabinets are finished (minus shelves) and ready for use.
The test fit of the desk is great, no gaps between the walls or the cabinets, what a feat of design and manufacture. We also have a close up of the inside of the corner cabinet. The doors have been taken out for finishing.
Here is the new office door from the inside and outside
The completed cabinets on the north wall.
And the finished door for the bathroom, clamping the edge banding to the north section of the desk
Here's the desk in place, temporarily with most of the edge banding installed
The bottom of the desk is now painted and the edge banding is all sanded, ready for rounding over with the router, then varathaning.
Ok the north east section of desk has been routed and is installed
The desk is complete and installed, and you can see the nice floor vents (made of cherry to match the cabinets) The cork board is installed on the the south, east and north sections of the walls, we have put aluminium slatwall in the middle of the cork on the east wall to hold accessories Everything is done, there are no computers installed in the picture above just so you can see everything. It looks and works great |
